Pepe Hidalgo is a Brooklyn-based drummer with a passion for moody jazz and energetic rock. His love for music has allowed him to play and study a variety of genres including Rock, Hip-Hop, Latin Pop, Progressive, Funk R&B, Fusion, Bossa Nova, and Jazz. Born in Santiago, Chile, he received his first drum kit at the age of eight and over the course of his young adult life joined a collection of bands and trios. He went on to win awards (Best Composition and Interpretation in a jazz competition) and opened for Sting’s guitarist, Dominic Miller, at the Nescafe Theatre of Arts in 2011.

At sixteen he began taking classes with Cristobal Orozco (the drummer for Myriam Hernandez and Octopus), who inspired him to audition for Berklee College of music, where he currently is working on his bachelor’s degree as a performance major. Over the last three years, he has been playing the drums all over New York City. “I feel lucky I get to do this for a living,” said the artist. “I want to reach people and hopefully have them connect to it the way I connect to my personal art.”
